Health Benefits of Graviola

Graviola tree, also known as soursop, is found in the Amazon jungle and some of the Caribbean islands. The soursop tree produces a delicious fruit that is widely consumed by indigenous peoples.(There seems to be some confusion as to call the papaya, Brazilian graviola fruit or papaya as the fruit of other plant species can also be called the papaya, tropical fruit like papaya (Carica papaya).) Fruit and the leaves are used in traditional medicine for their calming and sedative.

WHAT'S IN THE FRUIT, SEEDS AND LEAVES?

The pulp contains 81% moisture, acidity 3% and 24% of non-reducing sugar. Graviola seed moisture containing 8%, 2% crude protein, 13% ash, 8% of crude fiber, 20% fat and 47% carbohydrate. The seed also contains 0.2% of water-soluble ash, titratable acidity 0.8% calcium and 17 mg / 100 grams.
There are a number of compounds with the names exotic fruit. Some of these include, acetogenins muricins muricatocins annomuricine and muricapentocin and A and B, and many others, including annopentocins A, B and C. Acetogenins leaves contain annomuricins monotetrahydrofuran as A and B, gigantetrocin A annonacin-10-one, muricatetrocins A and B, annonacin and goniothalamicin.

PREVENTION OR TREATMENT OF CANCER

Although laboratory research with graviola and cancer appears promising, little is known about the role that graviola supplements play in the prevention or treatment of human cancer. It is difficult to say whether or graviola herb extract is effective, what would be the proper dosage, as long treatment would be necessary, that cancers that fits, and how pharmacists combined with anticancer drugs.

IF YOU HAVE HAD CANCER I WOULD, PERSONALLY, USE OF GRAVIOLA HERBS AS TREATMENT?

There are many types of cancer and for some, modern medicine has a good treatment option. It depends on the type of cancer, the stage, what kind of drug therapy that offers modern, and what kind of available laboratory, animal or human research available at the time regarding the potential benefits of herbal option .

BREAST CANCER

Nutr Cancer. 2011. Selective growth inhibition of human cancer cells in the breast Graviola fruit extract in vitro and in vivo involving downregulation of EGFR expression. In mouse xenograft model, treatment of 5 weeks of diet GFE (200 mg / kg diet) markedly reduced the protein expression of EGFR, EGFR and ERK-p-p in MDA-MB-468 tumors and inhibits tumor growth.
My wife has breast cancer and is taking graviola alongside their chemotherapy treatments. The herbal product has worked miracles, has removed the pain in the sternum and the tumors in her liver were reduced in size.
I would be very happy if the graviola is the natural treatment that is helping with the pain and reduced liver tumor, but since he is taking chemotherapy treatments at the same time, how do we know which is the use of graviola supplements that is responsible for the contraction of liver tumor?

COLON CANCER

My father involvement with colon adenocarcinoma and metastatic liver complication. He is undergoing chemotherapy for five weeks. Please send me some information about graviola and its anticancer effect. Does this herbal product help?
can not tell because studies in humans are scarce.
Five new mono-tetrahydrofuran ring acetogenins Annona muricata seeds

annonacin Cis, cis-10-annonacin one, cis-goniothalamicin, arianacin and javoricin isolated. Cis-annonacin was selectively cytotoxic colon adenocarcinoma cells (HT-29) in which is 10,000 times the potency of adriamycin.

PROSTATE CANCER

Two years ago my nephew was scheduled for surgery after a positive biopsy for prostate cancer. While awaiting surgery taking graviola supplements for two months. His tumors disappeared and his PSA dropped to 2 and the surgery was canceled. Their reviews are still very good. His PSA is now less than 2.
I was told by what I think is a trustworthy person that JAMA published an article in it about the benefits of graviola extract for cancer. I did not know the date of the Magazine. I can not find any information about the item, etc.
We searched Medline and found no human studies mentioned graviola cancer in JAMA.
Near the beginning of this year, I had a PSA of 11 after being followed for 4 or 5 years with a PSA in the range of 5-7 by my personal urologist retired a year before the PSA of 11 was obtained . I had been seeing for regular checkups every six months before his retirement, however, after his retirement was a full year before he had obtained the following by my family doctor. I saw another urologist, a much younger man, I had a hard time listening to everything he said and therefore, when he began to speak of a biopsy and the possibility of surgery without answering any of my questions, I I went to the University of Chicago, the Center for Advanced Medicine. This led to a biopsy negative for cancer, however, there were "markers" present suggesting a need for further biopsy and there would be a 50% chance of finding the presence of cancer. So for the next 6-7 weeks initially and did nothing other than my usual activity and then I decided to take a look at Internet discussions concerning alternative methods of treatment other than surgery and radiation. I found that I had to say about graviola and ordered a power capsule 100 and started taking it on that day with the dose of 1 a day for 5 days a week with a week off during the month and 1 month then every 3 months.Meanwhile, three weeks later, I had the second biopsy with the conclusion that I was cancer free and, although there were very few "markers" present, which were not significant at this point. I do not know if it helped or not. It seems to have caused any negative side effects.
This is interesting, please keep me updated on his results in the future and wish you the best result.

DEPRESSION

Isoquinoline derivatives isolated from the fruit of Annona muricata as 5-HTergic agonists 5-HT1A receptors in rats: unexploited antidepressants (lead) products.
J. Pharm Pharmacol. 1997.
extracts graviola plant have been shown to inhibit the binding of [3H] 5-HTergic rauwolscine to 5-HT1A receptors in calf hippocampus, including three alkaloids, annonaine, and asimilobine nornuciferine. Our results imply that the fruit of graviola have anti-depressive effects, possibly induced by the compounds annonaine, nornuciferine and asimilobine.

HERPES SIMPLEX

Effect of extract of Annona muricata and Petunia nyctaginiflora on herpes simplex virus.
J Ethnopharmacol. 1998.
Annona muricata and Petunia nyctaginiflora were screened for activity against herpes simplex virus-1 (HSV-1). The minimum inhibitory concentration of ethanol extract of graviola and aqueous extract of P. nyctaginiflora was found to be 1 mg / ml.

THE PROSTATE GLAND

I am a man of 58, who has had a high PSA benign for years, has been steadily higher and higher, rose to 13. I went through all biopsies, not cancer. I went on a 3 capsules of graviola herbs in the morning, 3 capsules at night for three months went and retested, and it was almost imperceptible. I went for about two years now, and now the PSA is back to 10, so start over the herbal product, just wanted you to know, I do not take the word of others and this is not something that someone else said they did. It caused a bit of nausea and loose bowels, but I know it works. I used 3 capsules Gravola Max, AM, PM, for three months, I took my PSA to rise from 13 to 0.01, almost imperceptible, and that's the only thing I did was on the rise for five years until then Only information only for their benefit.

GRAVIOLA EXTRACT

I heard that some companies sell an extract of graviola, but if an extract provides benefits beyond that of regular whole graviola powder is not known.
Graviola and atypical Parkinson's disease symptoms, side effects, precaution, safety and toxicity
have been some reports that regular intake of fruit graviola for decades by residents of Guadeloupe and other Caribbean countries may lead to atypical parkinsonian symptoms. Until this is clarified, it is a good idea to follow the suggestions of the frequent breaks from use of graviola supplements as suggested earlier in this article.
Mitochondrial complex I inhibitor annonacin is toxic to mesencephalic dopaminergic neurons impairment of energy metabolism.

NEUROSCIENCE. 2003.

The death of dopaminergic neurons induced by systemic administration of the mitochondrial respiratory chain complex I inhibitors such as 1-methyl-4-phenylpyridinium (MPP (+); given as the prodrug 1-methyl-1, 2,3,6 - tetrahydropyridine) or the pesticide rotenone have raised the question of whether this family of compounds are the cause of some forms of parkinsonism. We examined the neurotoxic potential of another complex I inhibitor, annonacin, the important acetogenin Annona muricata,. When added to mesencephalic cultures, annonacin was much more potent than MPP (+) and as effective as rotenone in the murder of dopaminergic neurons.
Quantification of acetogenins in Annona muricata linked to atypical parkinsonism in Guadeloupe.

MOV DISORDERS. 2005.

Atypical parkinsonism in Guadeloupe has been associated with the consumption of fruit and infusions or decoctions prepared from the leaves of Annona muricata, Annonaceous containing acetogenins, lipophilic inhibitors of complex I of the mitochondrial respiratory chain. We have determined that annonacin concentrations, the major acetogenin A. muricata, in extracts of fruits and leaves. An average fruit is estimated to contain about 15 mg of annonacin, a can of commercial nectar 36 mg, and a cup of infusion or decoction 140 micrograms. To show its potential toxicity, an adult who consumes one fruit or can of nectar a day is estimated to take more than one year the amount of annonacin that induced brain injury in rats annonacin purified by intravenous infusion.
Annonacin, a lipophilic inhibitor of mitochondrial complex I, induces nigral and striatal neurodegeneration in rats: possible relevance for atypical parkinsonism in Guadeloupe.

J NEUROCHEM. 2004.

In Guadeloupe, epidemiological data have linked atypical parkinsonism with fruit and herbal teas from plants of the Annonaceae family, particularly Annona muricata. These plants contain a potent inhibitor class I and lipophilic complex Annonaceous acetogenins. To determine the neurotoxic potential of these substances were administered annonacin, the main acetogenin graviola, rats.Annonacin inhibits complex I in brain homogenates a concentration dependent manner and, when administered systemically, entered into the cerebral parenchyma and the decrease of cerebral ATP levels. In the absence of evidence of systemic toxicity, we observed neuropathological alterations in the basal ganglia and brain stem nuclei. There was no loss of dopaminergic neurons in the substantia nigra, and cholinergic neurons and dopamine in the striatum, accompanied by a significant increase in the number of astrocytes and microglial cells. The distribution of lesions was similar to that in patients with atypical parkinsonism.
I noticed you mention the possible toxicity. If studies have been performed over the years that span a lifetime, why these Parkinson graviola eaters ever die of cancer? Do you think that the probability of death from colon adenocarcinoma has increased in Parkinson's disease? What is the window of the morbidity of people with pancreatic cancer, lung, bone, bladder cancer compared with Parkinson lifepsans of people studied leading to its "potential toxicity" report? The toxicity of cancer is less or greater than the toxicity of the plant? If you have had cancer, graviola do you consume?
These are good questions and no easy answers, and there is little research addressing these issues.Different cancers have different causes and treatments. If I had a form of cancer that was not good pharmaceutical options, I would explore the use of graviola or other remedies from herbs and plants.
